Meet Andrew Corley, Candidate for FBC Minister of Students and Recreation

Andrew Corley with his family.

Our First Baptist Personnel Committee, Full Ministerial Staff and Fellowship of Deacons are very excited to recommend to you Andrew Corley as our next Minister of Students and Recreation.  After the careful review of over 30 resumes, numerous phone conversations with possible candidates, more formal interviews with a smaller pool of candidates, consultations with those outside our church in youth ministry circles and listening sessions with both a group of FBC Youth Parents and our Youth themselves, we feel confident that Andrew is the very best candidate for our church at this time.

Andrew is a product of our town and our church.  He grew up in Laurens, is a graduate of Laurens District 55 High School, had his faith formed at First Baptist Church and even served the FBC Student Ministry for three summers as an intern during Tommy Cox’s tenure as youth minister.  His parents are our own David and Susan Corley and his sister is Rebecca who teaches at Laurens Middle School.

After graduating from Presbyterian College, Andrew received his Masters of Divinity degree from Gardner-Webb Divinity School.  While in Divinity school he worked in the local church as a youth minister and after graduating has been pastoring in the same area outside of Shelby, North Carolina.  You can read Andrew’s full resume which is attached below.

Andrew is married to Meghan and they have two children, Davis and Abigail.  Meghan is an elementary school teacher.  Our expectation is that Andrew will begin his tenure at First Baptist around October 15th.  We will vote to affirm the recommendation of Andrew at the end of both of our outside services this Sunday morning, September 27th.  Join us in praying for Andrew, Meghan and their children as well as for our church in these exciting days of transition.
