Dear Church Family,
Like you, the staff and lay leadership of the church has watched with growing concern the increase in positive Covid-19 cases related to the onset of the Delta variant. With a new school year beginning the chances of positive cases and associated quarantines within our congregation will most likely increase dramatically over the next few weeks. With that in mind, we would like to make a promise to you and a request of you.
Our promise is that we will do all that we can to keep the core weekly ministry of this church going in the safest manner possible. None of us wants to return to a virtual or restricted form of worship. Our goal, and we believe that this goal is attainable, is to keep our full slate of Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night activities (and our Children’s Tuesday afternoon activities and weekly Men’s groups) meeting in person once they begin in September. That is our primary desire, but we also have a responsibility to keep the members of this church safe, and that is where our request from you comes in.
Please, if you are feeling sick, stay home from worship and other activities. If you are quarantined from work or school due to potential exposure, please stay home from worship and other activities. If you or someone in your family is waiting on the results of a Covid test, please stay home from worship and other activities. We will miss you in those moments, but we need to do all we can to lower our chance of large group exposure that might necessitate canceling events. If you are in areas with high chances of exposure, please consider wearing a mask when you are in bigger groups here at church. Social distancing pews remain available; please consider using them if that would make you more comfortable. In the same way, leave them available for those who prefer to remain socially distanced. Since we returned to in-person worship last year we have managed to avoid a major Covid situation within our congregation. With your help we can make sure that remains the case.
Thank you for your help, support, and prayers in this time,
The Deacon Leadership and Staff of FBC
