Tour of Mepkin Abbey, a Monastery in Moncks Corner, SC
We will tour the Abbey and the gardens, have some snacks for lunch, and then have a 4:30 lunch/supper at Pawleys Front Porch in Columbia. Mepkin Abbey is a community of Roman Catholic monks established in 1949 on the site of the historic Mepkin Plantation located on the Cooper River, north of Charleston, South Carolina.
Founded by the monks of Gethsemani in Kentucky, the brothers of Mepkin follow The Rule of St. Benedict, and devote their lives to prayer, spiritual study, work and hospitality. Pawleys Front Porch has been featured on the show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. They have a large menu of salads and sandwiches, but their specialty is their unique hamburgers!
Cost is $20 per person: includes snacks, supper and money to help with gas.
