About First Baptist Laurens

With more than 800 active members, First Baptist Church is a congregation alive with vibrant opportunities for people of all ages to grow in their relationship with God and to find meaningful ways to serve our community and our world. Our five full-time ministers lead and direct numerous weekly and regular services and activities for all ages from older adults to preschoolers. Our worship blends together both traditional and contemporary elements as we seek to grow together in our relationship with God and each other. Beyond the activities that happen inside the walls of First Baptist, we also have a deep desire to impact our world by sharing God’s love in a variety of ways, through both hands-on opportunities and the support of full-time missions personnel. Our Baptist affiliations are with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). We also regularly partner with local congregations from a variety of denominations to carry out Christ’s work. Newcomers are always welcome at First Baptist. We truly do have a place for everyone to both grow as believers and to serve.

What are the primary weekly times for Worship and Bible Study?

We also offer a full range of midweek opportunities on Wednesday nights beginning with dinner at 5 pm. A full listing of all of our weekly opportunities can be found in other places on our website.

How should I dress?

People dress in a variety of ways at FBC. Some come in very dressy attire and others are very casual. There is no dress code and you are welcome in whatever manner is most comfortable to you.

What do you offer for youth and children?

FBC is very proud of our excellent ministry opportunities for youth and children. On Sundays and Wednesday nights there are opportunities for all ages: Sunday School, choir opportunities, missions education, and worship and special studies for youth. Throughout the week there are other regular and special opportunities from our weekly handbell choir for children to our many camps and retreats for youth. Please visit the dedicated spaces on our website for each age group for further information.

What is your worship like?

Our worship includes many elements that help us to grow in our relationship with God, from traditional hymns to contemporary choruses, responsive readings to video illustrations, emphasis on the seasons of the Christian year to sermons that are practical for the real world in which we live. In short, we seek to take the best of all styles and incorporate them into our worship of God.
