Senior Adult Minister Announcement
Dear Church Family,
The Board of Deacons is pleased to announce that FBC Laurens has called Rev. Phil Hall to serve as our new Part-Time Senior Adult Minister, effective August 2, 2026 as we look to strengthen our senior adult ministry.
Rev. Hall recently retired from full-time ministry as Pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church in Laurens after an eleven-year tenure. He also served First Baptist Church, Laurens for twenty-three years in two roles – Minister of Youth and Recreation and later, Minister of Education.
After a thoughtful season of prayer, discussion, and seeking God's guidance, we are excited to welcome Phil to this important ministry. He brings a heart for serving others, a love for Christ, and a passion for encouraging and ministering to our senior adults.
In this part-time role, Phil will work alongside our church staff and volunteers to provide spiritual encouragement, fellowship opportunities, pastoral care, and programs that strengthen and support the lives of our senior adult members and their families.
Please join us in welcoming Phil back to FBC Laurens and praying for this new chapter of ministry. We are grateful for God's faithfulness in providing leadership for this vital area of our church. We also want to thank Adair for serving as the Senior Adult Minister for many years as she and Phil will work closely together moving forward.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we seek to grow together in faith and service to our Lord.
Grace and peace,
Dr. Josh Black, Deacon Chair
Rev. Tim Marsh, Pastor
Mr. Matt Strickland, Personnel Committee Chair
A Word from Phil
I am so excited to have the opportunity to minister with you again. I never dreamed that after retirement God would have a new place for me to serve, but I certainly never imagined it would be here at FBC. God has a way of surprising us, and I am grateful for His leading.
I'm sure you have a number of questions—I know I do too! I look forward to discovering together what my role as your Minister to Senior Adults will look like.
I also know I have some big shoes to fill. One thing I can promise you is that I won't be able to do what Adair did so well—showing up with cakes, soups, and T-bone steaks! You'll just have to settle for my warm smile, a listening ear, and a caring visit.
I'm excited about what God has in store for us, and I can't wait to begin this new chapter together.
See you on August 2! -Phil
A Place to
Worship
We believe our faith grows best in community. Worship at First Baptist Church focuses on our need to honor, hear, and follow God. If you are seeking a place where your mind, heart and soul can be fed, we invite you to join us for worship.
A Place to
Grow
Because we never fully understand God and faith, the journey of faith is lifelong. To grow in faith we need discipline, challenge and the support of a loving community. There is a place for you to grow at FBC Laurens.
A Place to
Serve
Our faith calls us to follow the model of Jesus, and that leads us to serve others. We believe that our care for others is a central way of sharing God’s love with the world. We offer opportunities to serve in our community, our nation and in specific global partnerships.
