Senior Adults
“I have created you and cared for you since you were born. I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes, even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you.”
—Isaiah 46: 3b-4a

Senior Adults are the backbone of our church. They possess the education, the experience and the insight to keep our church strong and stable, and their wisdom, spanning years of involvement in church life, keeps us focused on God and God’s purposes for First Baptist, Laurens.
Our Senior Adult ministry is a vibrant, thriving ministry in our church. There are nine Senior Adult Sunday School classes that are active in our church, including a class that meets every Sunday morning at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center here in Laurens.
Our Senior Adults take active leadership roles in our church and serve by teaching Sunday School, providing leadership for committees, serving on our Fellowship of Deacons, keeping the nursery, ministering to those of our church family who are no longer able to be actively involved, and by being very involved in mission projects in our community, around the state, and around the world.
Our Senior Adults are a fun-loving, adventuresome group of people! Just say the word, “go” and they are ready. Because of empty nests and retirement status, our seniors have the time and desire to travel-from day trips to the Billy Graham Museum to 4-day trips to a Senior Adult Conference in Pigeon Forge, we don’t miss out on a fellowship opportunity!
CWA (Comfortable With Age) is the name of our Senior Adults who meet monthly (on the 4th Tuesday of each month) for a time of fellowship, an interesting program, and a great covered-dish meal. CWA will resume when Covid restrictions make it safe for us to do so.
Rev. Adair Rogers has been the Minister of Music at First Baptist since 1995, and, in 2012, added to her job description, Minister of Senior Adults. Adair says that Senior Adults, more than any other group in the church, know how to have a good time and how to honor God in the process. If you’re interested in ways you can be involved in the Senior Adult ministry of our church, call Adair at 864.984.7500 or 864.923.1631, or email her. She would love to help you get plugged in to one of the greatest assets at First Baptist—our Senior Adults!
